So this is an on going project, but I got some parts together to see the viability of doing something like this. I've seen a few video's online of people doing something like this and I figured I could do one as well. I also saw manufactured solutions that were in the 1k range and I didn't want to pay that kind of money.
So during this holiday break I threw this together:

Boot time isn't awful, but could be improved (I also started the video right after I hit reboot so there is some shut down time in the video). Other issue to solve is MPH, which I think I have solved using GPS. I really didn't want to create a solution for the mechanical speedo. In addition to the MPH the GPS module I found is also a Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Magnetometer and Barometric/Altitude Sensor. The potential of cool data logging that can be linked to the ECU is a possibility. Future research needed though.
Last bit will getting this thing inside the Dash Pod.
