Thank you for checking out the new Exocet Owners Club Online Community! As we launch the new Discourse-powered community into 2018, we would love to hear what you think about the functionality of the site and what we can do to improve it.

This system will evolve over the coming months and will be directed based on user feedback. We aim to make optimal use of the Discourse system, referring to known best practices for organization and community management on this software platform. We will make use of the user level/trust system as well as roll out a special access area for Exocet builders to allow them to host their build logs and enjoy additional features.

To ensure content is always retained in the future and to eliminate broken image/file links, all content added to the system is automatically ingested to Amazon S3 for storage. The overall system runs on a Digital Ocean SSD cloud server hosted in NYC with Mailgun handling all system emails and Amazon S3 handling file storage. Login integrations with Google, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are slated to be added in early 2018.

Build Guide Categories: Too many? Too few?

Do we need a tuning section?

WAY WAY WAY too many. Starting a forum out too many categories makes it too hard for people to locate information. For example under the main forum categories there should just be a few at first. Once content is established then sub dividing it further is good.

General

I like the all of the categories but I’d like to see them as subcategories under larger areas of the build. Also I think it’s important that the initial “how to” information is held is a sticky and that comments flow below that so that so the important information doesn’t fall to the bottom.

I’d also like to see a section on choosing your doner Miata and what it’s you keep and what items you can sell off. I am in the process of working up to a frame purchase and considering if I want to start with my highly modified 91 or something else and it would be useful to know what is worth while to keep, especially in the area of the mods I already have.

I’d also like to see an area where Exmotive explains the difference between the US and UK design and can talk about future improvements to the design and get feedback.

You should make a regional section. We have a huge showing in the NW and it would really help us organize meets, events, etc. It will also make it easier to connect with other exocet owners in our area.

Yup have one of the top headers be Regional discussions and then break down into several forums underneath similar to https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/upcoming-events-and-regional-discussion-9/
With fewer US regions, add UK/Europe and Au/NZ

If you’re able to create any levels, I’d suggest maybe a dozen main topics, with related sub topics. For example: “interior”.. sub levels include seats, hand brake, battery, sheet metal, gauge cluster, pedal box, trans tunnel, mirrors, gauges,... etc.

I’m a fan of more categories. Included would be not only the basic build instructions, but user input, hints, tricks, tools, upgrades, etc. Tthis goes for every subcategory.

I agree russ, just the way it's laid out now it's like overload. It would be easier if there were a few or several main categories such as engine, suspension, brakes, ect. Then under each of those there was sub category's that had more specifics, instead of every section just in a huge list. Going to category mode up top makes it better but still under the build guide there is too many areas at once.

Count me as one of those who like cascading topics. Maybe a dozen or so broader main topics with more detailed sub-topics contained within each main topic.

I think Kevin has done a good job getting a forum started.

I would like to see people show their build progress, maybe a section for builds or finished exocets would motivate folks to post.
